A large turnout marked the Central Region Citizen’s Advisory Board’s Annual Legislative Breakfast held on April 17th at Clark University in Worcester. Many state senators and representatives were on hand as DDS Commissioner Elin Howe outlined some of the gains proposed in the recently released House Ways and Means Committee budget.
The theme of the breakfast was “Community Works” and Advisory Board co-chair and morning master of ceremonies Jack Foley outlined a number of examples showing how cooperative partnerships among providers, DDS and area agencies has reaped many benefits for individuals and families served. The 2015 award recipients were living examples of the meaning of “community works”.
The distinguished awards went to David Aronson (Creative Print Products, Inc.) Denise Carter (of Leominster), Curt Gauthier (GAAMHA, Inc.), Roger Hankins (Cantor Art Gallery), Nancy Moore (The Arc, Center of Hope Foundation), Debra Webster (DDS north central office) and the Templeton Development Center Closure Team (John Harrington, Jacqueline Johnson, Ann Rocheleau, Martin Smith, Sandra Superchi, Annette Szivos).
Senator Harriet Chandler, Senate Majority Leader offered some insightful comments after the breakfast when she mentioned, “These are the workers (award winners) who best demonstrate that community works by providing much needed services to those in our community”. Legislative citations as well as strong words of praise were given to all award recipients.
