Thanks to donors like you, the more than 200,000 people who have intellectual and developmental disabilities in Massachusetts have better access to the services and the funding they need to live full lives in the community. Supporters of The Arc of Massachusetts give them opportunity and hope.
Before Linda turned 22 last spring, she had found the perfect mix of adult services, including employment support, volunteer opportunities, and recreation. But a lack of funding for the Turning 22 program meant she was only able to get day habilitation.
We made an increase in Turning 22 funding a priority for the state’s Fiscal Year 2018 budget. Despite nearly 1,000 students moving from schools to adult services annually, the budget only funded a few hundred young men and women. We asked Governor Charlie Baker to adjust the inadequate funding formula; he and the legislature responded affirmatively and approved a $14 million increase.
Your support makes it possible for The Arc of Massachusetts to advocate for this critical funding so that Linda and others can receive the services they need.
Your gift to The Arc of Massachusetts annual fund will help us to fight for laws that protect the dignity and safety of people with disabilities, to educate medical professionals on how to best diagnose and serve our constituents, and to make sure that all people with I/DD including autism have access to supports and services.
You can help to make it happen.
Would you be willing to give $50, $100, or whatever you can afford to help us advocate and educate?
We simply can’t do it without you. You can have a real, lasting impact on the lives of people with autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and other disabilities.
