My district, the Twelfth Bristol, includes the towns of Berkley, Lakeville and parts of Middleborough as well as parts of the city of Taunton. Currently, I serve on two joint committees, Labor and Work Force Development and the Committee on Economic Development and Emerging Technologies. This year, I filed a bill (H 1757 An Act relative to nondiscrimination training in the workplace to require training for employees that they be aware of the prohibition against unlawful workplace discrimination, harassment and retaliation. It is the right of every employee for feel safe in the work place and harmful behaviors to others should not be tolerated. The bill encourages minimal training but should not discourage employers from providing more elaborate training and education as needed. I do love the work of being a state representative and truly enjoy the challenges of solving the many problems facing both the Commonwealth and my constituents.
