One of our greatest needs in the HealthMeet project is finding places to hold the health assessment events. There are two ways to help us achieve our goal of screening 1,200 participants in 2013:

  • Host one large health assessment event over a weekend (e.g. reaching 75 participants)
  • Host smaller health assessment events (e.g. 3 – 4 hours) on a monthly or bi-monthly basis for 2-5 months

  • Reach potential new clients in your area
  • Health volunteers (who can be your staff) receive short online training at no cost
  • Take part in enhancing health care for persons with I/DD

Assistance from The Arc of Massachusetts:

  • Outreach and recruitment materials
  • Periodic check-ins via phone, email and in-person visits.
  • Facilitate group meetings to determine best practices and identify challenges
  • Provide tablets for HIPPA compliant data collection
  • Help coordinate staffing for health assessment events, including health and advocate volunteers. Participation from hosting site’s staff – as volunteers – is appreciated and will be helpful.
  • Coordinate and provide necessary supplies. (The Arc is seeking in-kind donations of medical supplies and food for health assessment events.)
