A Busy Week for Operation House Call

OHC held two classes on Tuesday, February 19, reaching over 60 Medical and Nursing students at Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM) and UMass Medical School (UMMS) Graduate School of Nursing.

At BUSM, students were instructed by three very special guests, including OHC parent instructor, Una Basak. Dr. Brian Skotko, the Director of the Down Syndrome Clinic at MGH who also has a sister with Down Syndrome, presented with Kaitlyn Krauskopf, who has a sister with Down Syndrome and autism. Champions for people with disabilities like Dr. Skotko not only provide expert care, but are also wonderful models for young medical students!

At UMass Graduate Nursing School, OHC kicked off our first official class since our pilot program.Over 30 Nursing students had a full 2 hours of learning from OHC Director Maura Sullivan and co-teachers Riley Easley and Joshy, Jack, and Tina Cerulo.

Students from both schools will visit with families in their homes for a rare opportunity to learn directly from individuals with autism or I|DD and their parents and siblings. Thank you to all the OHC families serving students from the each of our 5 programs.
