Direct Support Youth Stipends

The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) is collaborating with the Federation for Children with Special Needs (FCSN) to provide funding for transition and social supports that you identify. Direct Support Youth Stipends can be used for services that aren’t covered by other sources of support. To qualify, the young person meet the following criteria:

  • born between March 10, 1998 and September 30, 2001
  • enrolled in special education until age 22
  • a resident of Massachusetts

Through this partnership, over $95,000 has been distributed so far to over 160 Massachusetts youth with disabilities and their families.​

FCSN has funded​:

  • Personal Care Attendants​
  • ABA Services
  • Transportation
  • Social groups​
  • Gym membership​
  • Assistive technology​
  • Job coach​
  • Co-pays for appointments
  • & more!​

These are just a few examples. You can choose the services that best meet your young adult’s needs and interests.

Eligible young adults may qualify for extra services in addition to receiving a Direct Support Youth Stipend from FCSN.
