Overview of Aging Resources for Caregivers and Older Individuals

Although caregiving can be rewarding, it can also, be exhausting and have a negative impact on a caregiver’s physical and mental health. Discover how to combat caregiver stress by learning about the available resources and support for caregivers as well as in-home support services for older adults. WestMass ElderCare can help you access caregiver support programs, respite services, adaptive equipment, companion, homemaking, personal care assistance, transportation, and other needed support services for you or your family member.
Brenda Bronner, LSW is Home Care Director, WestMass ElderCare. WestMass ElderCare is a private, non-profit agency, located in Holyoke MA. since 1974. Their mission is “to preserve the dignity, independence, and quality of life of elders and persons with disabilities desiring to remain within their own community.” They offer a variety of services for elders, their families and caregivers, and persons with disabilities, so that they can remain in their homes and avoid institutionalization. The agency offers a full range of information and services. Please note that many of these same programs are offered statewide so you do not have to live in Western Mass to receive assistance from Aging Services.
