The two Senate budget amendments (#468 DDS Day and Employment/ #557 Community Operated DDS Residential Services) that we had asked you to support by reaching out to your Senator were not adopted. In addition, the Senate adopted the ABLE Account amendment (#506) which is for language changes to have the MA law be compatible with the federal ABLE law. The Senate budget debate is concluded and a House and Senate budget conference committee will work to reconcile the differences between the two budgets. The Senate has been supportive of issues related to intellectual and developmental disabilities yet we had been informed during the budget process that April tax revenues were below earlier projected amounts. We will continue to work with both the House and Senate as the budget process moves forward. We encourage your continued support during this budget process. Thanks to many who reached out to their senator. Your message to your representative and senator includes asking for their continued positive support for services/programs for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
We will keep you posted about actions you can take that will be beneficial as the budget process moves forward.
