In 2018, The Arc of Massachusetts advocated for increased funding, better policies, and supports for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), including autism.
- We held a statewide Get Out the Vote campaign, which reached thousands of individuals on social media and featured interviews with Representative Joe Kennedy and Senator Richard Ross.
- We guided people on how to navigate the changes in MassHealth.
- We held legislative advocacy trainings for families and professionals all across the state.
- And we worked with countless legislators on a group of bills, including our legislative priority, Nicky’s Law.
As I’m sure you’ve heard by now, Nicky’s Law, which would establish a registry for care providers who have been substantiated of abuse against individuals with I/DD, did not pass through an informal session this year. The Abuse Registry would provide invaluable protections for our community.
This bill is too important to give up on – and that’s why we need your support.
2019 is only days away, and we are preparing for the upcoming legislative session. Your contribution will make it possible for The Arc of Massachusetts to keep up the fight.
We can – and will – continue to work for better lives for people with I/DD. But not without you.
