The thirty second Middlesex District includes all of Melrose and some precincts in Wakefield and one in Malden. I have served as the state representative since 2011 and am strongly committed to advocating for those most in need within my district. I depend greatly on those groups as The Eastern Middlesex Arc and other to keep me informed about actions the legislature might take to be supportive and helpful for the individuals they serve. This year I filed legislation requiring training for police and correction officers interacting with persons with autism spectrum disorders. This would include developing guidelines for law enforcement response to individuals on the autism spectrum who are victims or witnesses to crime, or suspected or convicted of crime. I thoroughly enjoy my job as a state representative and am always responsive to the needs of my constituents.
