Autism Police Training Amendment Accepted In Police Reform Bill

Due to the support of Representative Paul Tucker, Speaker Robert DeLeo, and many House Supporters, the police reform bill now includes training for police and corrections officers in best practices regarding individuals with autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities.

This amendment was accepted just today and comes after years of work on a bill to mandate training. We are grateful to all those who turned around quick letters in the last 2 days, for the advocacy of AFAM, and the model work of the ALEC program.
