Many barriers exist that prevent families from engaging in future planning: a lack of understanding of the steps involved, feeling that it takes financial resources, and a shortage of appropriate disability services or distrust of the service system.
Recently, The Arc of Massachusetts partnered with The Arc US’s Center for Future Planning and the University of Illinois at Chicago to offer a one day training on assisting caregivers with Future Planning.
During this training series, nearly 30 Massachusetts professionals were trained in providing Future Planning assistance.
We are now reaching out to offer families assistance with Future Planning. Openings are currently available in Holyoke, New Bedford, and the Metro Boston region. Assistance is free of charge.
