Leo’s Letter: August Recess: Not A Time To Slow Down!

Two bills passed the House of Representatives this week and we have a chance to reach our federal representatives and senators during the congressional recess that falls into early September.

The bipartisan infrastructure bill doesn’t include our major priorities, but we expect it to be finalized and signed.

The $3.5 trillion budget blueprint DOES include our major priorities such as the $400 billion home and community (HCBS) funding. What does it all mean? Learn more via this fact sheet on “Massachusetts’ Better Care Better Jobs Act.”

You can also learn more about our national advocacy priorities here. We need to push for these and the SSI reform with all federal officials (senators and representatives).

You can reach your official here by scrolling down to “Find Your Elected Official.”

Note: for SSI priorities we are especially hopeful for Representative Richard Neal’s leadership as Chair of Ways and Means in the House.
