The Senate Ways and Means Committee released its FY’22 budget today. The Arc is thankful for the increases in the DDS line items over the Governor’s budget, also included by the House.
These line items are, Day and Employment ($15 million), Transportation ($7 million) and Family Support ($7 million), with a total increase of $29 million.
The Senate Ways and Means Committee also maintained the Governor’s budget relative to the other DDS line items.
Thank you to the Senate leadership for hearing our advocacy needs, especially Ways & Means Chair Michael Rodrigues and Vice-Chair Cindy Friedman! We appreciate your support of the disability community as we continue to face the challenges of COVID-19 and ensure that individuals with disabilities can return safely to their daily lives as the state re-opens schools, day and employment programs and other community settings. In the words of Chair Rodrigues, “As we work to emerge from this pandemic stronger and more resilient, we continue our work to ensure an equitable recovery and build a more inclusive Commonwealth.” Click here for Chair Rodrigues’s full message.
