The Arc of Massachusetts has created a sign-on letter (based on The Arc US and other national organizations’ template) in support of the Better Care Better Jobs Act, which will be sent to the Massachusetts Congressional Delegation on Tuesday, July 20.
The recently introduced Better Care Better Jobs Act (BCBJA) will make a huge investment necessary to change disability services into the future. While the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) provides a temporary 10% increase in federal matching for home and community care in Massachusetts with an estimated $420 Million, the Better Care Better Jobs Act is 31 times the size and will address long-term workforce and other systemic community needs. This federal bill will provide massive funding enhancements to Massachusetts, which focus on improving and expanding our Medicaid home and community-based services (HCBS) delivery system. The bill could expand access to vital services for people with disabilities and create more and better direct support jobs for the paid workforce that provides these services.
The letter will also be cc’d to Governor Baker, Senate President Karen Spilka, Speaker Ronald Mariano, and Secretary EOHHS, Marylou Sudders. If you have any questions, please contact Ellen Taverna, The Arc’s Public Policy Director, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please fill out this form to endorse the Better Care Better Jobs Act and to be listed as an endorsing organization in any public materials about the legislation.
Deadline to sign up: COB Tuesday, July 20
