Last week (April 19-23) was a busy one for the team at The Arc of Massachusetts, as we once again took part in the national Disability Policy Seminar.
This year’s event was held entirely virtually, including the opportunity to take part in Virtual Disability Policy Seminar Hill Days. The Arc was privileged to once again take part in meetings with the entire United States Massachusetts Congressional Delegation, along with The Arc of Massachusetts Chapters, LEND Boston, Massachusetts Developmental Disabilities Council, Massachusetts Advocates Standing Strong, and INDEX/Shriver Center/UMass Medical School.
Thank you to all the staff and Members of Congress and to our nine US Reps – Representative Stephen F. Lynch, Congresswoman Katherine Clark, Congressman Richard Neal, Congressman Bill Keating, Congresswoman Lori Trahan, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, Congressman Seth Moulton, Congressman Jim McGovern, and Representative Jake Auchincloss – that met with our energetic Massachusetts group about Medicaid, the direct support workforce crisis, education, criminal justice, and other important issues impacting people with I/DD and autism and their families.
And finally, thank you to U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren, for kicking off our week, and to Senator Edward J. Markey, for closing out our week, with inspiring words to keep up our advocacy for the disability community!
