On Thursday, October 31, The Arc of Massachusetts teamed up with Gann Academy to provide testimony in support of H.2779, “An act relating to access to public records.”
The testimony was provided as part of a hearing before the State Administration and Regulatory Oversight Committee. This bill will create access to sealed state records.
These records contain some of the only information ever obtained about the hundreds of residents of the Fernald State School and other state hospitals and schools throughout the Massachusetts.
Opening these records will allow Gann Academy and others to uncover the hidden lives of those individuals who lived through dark days and deplorable conditions.
