The Arc’s Maura Sullivan ran a Family Support Advocacy Training for Vòng Tay Cha Mẹ Việt, the Circle of Vietnamese parents, in Dorchester this week.
This is a group of Vietnamese speaking parents of children and adults with autism or I/DD who come together to support one another, to network, to share experiences, and to share resources.
The group is currently learning to advocate for their sons and daughters while navigating a system where most information is presented in English.
Oanh Bui has made a huge impact with translation services both in person and in writing, as well as providing invaluable advocacy supports.
The group is highly motivated and more sessions are in the works.
