At Operation House Call, we empower families and self-advocates to teach through lived experience. Our outstanding co-teachers are individuals with IDD and autism, who speak in our classroom sessions. They share about their lives and experiences with the medical system, and answer questions posed by medical students.
Our co-teachers represent a diverse array of experiences; they share in whatever way works best for them and with whatever supports they need. Meeting and learning from co-teachers is consistently one of the students’ favorite parts of OHC classroom sessions. We are so grateful for their outstanding teaching and help in creating a future with more inclusive healthcare for all!
