My district, known as the Third Barnstable District, includes the town of Mashpee and portions of the town of Falmouth and Bourne. In addition to my constituent responsibilities to my district, I also serve as ranking member of the House Bonding, Capital Expenditures and State Assets Committee; as ranking house member of the Joint Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee; and as a member of the House & Joint Rules Committees and a member of the Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development
My greatest challenge is responding to the various needs of the constituents of my district. Even though the district in located in the “heart of Cape Cod” there are endless challenges that my constituents face. Certainly the need for adequate health care, economic empowerment and services for those with addiction problems, developmental disabilities and mental health concerns are great. I receive a great sense of personal satisfaction when being able to make the necessary connections to help improve the lives of those in my district. Those personal connections reinforce my belief that change to improve the lives of individuals can happen and that bringing hope enriches our community.
