My district in central Massachusetts, the Fifth Worcester consists of the towns of Barre, Brookfield, East Brookfield, Hardwick, Hubbardston, New Braintree, North Brookfield, Oakham, West Brookfield and sections of Spencer and Ware.  Currently I serve on three committees; the Joint Committee on Elder Affairs; Joint Committee on Veterans and Federal Affairs; Joint Committee on Ways and Means.  My first run for public office was as a Spencer selectman in 1994.   Now as a State Representative I am honored to be a strong voice for my constituents at the State House.  The best preparation for this task was being raised by parents who had always taught me that you should help people whenever possible.   I’m pleased that being an elected official affords me many opportunities to do just that.  In my district I have been involved with The Arc’s Center of Hope who works with individuals having intellectual and developmental disabilities.  I enjoy meeting the many individuals and families in my district and look forward to the chance to better serve their needs.

    Representative Donald R. Berthiaume, Jr.

I am a resident in the small town of Barre Ma.
The town committee which consist of three selectmen, has decided to rid the town of two well endorsed men, the Police Chief Erik Demetropoulos of 9 years, and Selectmen voted 2-1 to suspend the town’s long-serving Fire Chief Joseph Rogowski , of 42 years, acting Chief as 22 years, with only 2 more years left for full retirement.

In my observation and opinion, the majority of town residents are appalled and ashamed of the Committee’s unprecedented , for the release of these two men, whom have served the town well, with respect and honor.

My question to you is, how to you over turn a committee of “3” selectmen decision ?

    Thank you
