My district, the Worcester and Norfolk district, represents the towns of Blackstone, Douglas, Dudley, Hopedale, Mendon, Milford, Millville, Northbridge (precincts 1 and 3) Oxford, Southbridge, Sutton, Uxbridge, Webster and Bellingham. As a State Senator I am enjoying my many responsibilities in the legislature. Just recently at my state house office I met with families from my district that expressed to me the importance of the day program, family supports and transportation services they receive. They were able to tell me about their experiences and examples of how services benefited them and their family members with developmental disabilities. With all the issues facing the legislature, I depend on the first hand information from families that keeps me better alert to the challenges that my constituents face. I look forward to hearing from other families who help keep me better informed.
We are pleased that you will support individuals with disabilities and their families. In the past our families supported by DDS and Seven Hills Foundation and other providers, have been disappointed that you have not been in attendance at our Legislative Breakfasts and other events and meetings that our families and self-advocates attend and you have been invited to.
Dear Senator Fattman: I very much appreciated that you took the time to visit the Day Habilitation programs operated in Webster and Dudley and also the Thrift and Consignment stores in Webster. The individuals in the various programs were excited to meet with you and to welcome you to their work and program sites. The staff were very pleased that you came to the programs, discussed their jobs with them and spoke of your commitment to Human Services in Massachusetts. We all hope that you will have the opportunity for a return visit.
Thank you for your support and advocacy on behalf of ID/DD Individuals in your District and throughout the state.
