Marcy Hannah Waring (she/her) is a senior at Brandeis University majoring in Health: Science, Society, and Policy (HSSP) and is enrolled in the Heller School’s MPP Advancement Program. She has a strong foundation in public health and is committed to making a tangible impact on her community. On Brandeis’s Accessibility Committee, she addresses physical accessibility concerns and drafts grant proposals to bring solutions to life. She most recently introduced high-visibility stair strips to improve safety for low-vision and blind students. As a research fellow at the Lurie Institute for Disability Policy, she supports a study on the unmet needs of women with physical disabilities during pregnancy.

Prior to joining The Arc, Marcy interned at the Autistic Self Advocacy Network, focusing on community outreach and congressional notetaking. Her passion for disability nonprofits deepened because in these spaces she feels that her lived experience isn’t just accepted, it’s embraced. At The Arc of Massachusetts, she brings this lived experience and a skillset that includes project management, accessible design knowledge, plain language writing, intersectional advocacy, and qualitative coding.
