Bill Allan, advocacy leader and husband of Mary Lou Maloney who led The Arc’s Family to Family program in the 1990s, passed away on July 11, 2025. Bill dedicated his life to community activism and public service, especially within Boston’s inner-city neighborhoods.
In the early 1990s, he founded the Hyde Square Task Force, a now-thriving nonprofit committed to empowering youth in the Hyde Square area of Jamaica Plain. Alongside his wife Mary Lou, Bill co-founded the Disability Policy Consortium (DPC) of Massachusetts and served as its Executive Director from 2003 to 2010.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Mary Lou, four children, and six grandchildren. We are grateful for Bill’s decades of leadership and advocacy. Our thoughts are with his family and all who knew him. You can read a full obituary here.
