Today’s the day, advocates! We need your action in the form of calling your Representative’s office in support of the House bill H4393, Expanding Nicky’s Law.

Our community has sent over 500 letters via email already, but we need to take our advocacy to the next level today in order to prioritize this legislation in the House Ways and Means Committee.

We have created a simple Action Alert for you to use in order to be connected directly with your Representative’s office. A staff person will likely answer or you will get a voicemail. In either case, you are looking to speak or leave a message for the Legislative Director or you will speak to the person handling legislative issues.

Along with the recommended talking points, feel free to add your personal story or any other information you wish to share to support this bill.

Recommended Talking Points

Hello, I am a voting constituent of Representative ___________. I appreciate the work that they have done for the IDD/ASD community through the FY 25 budget.

I have written in the past to ask for your support of H4393. Today, as the end of the session is nearing, I am calling to ask for their urgent support of a bill that is critical to the safety and well-being of adults who receive services in MassHealth Day Habilitation programs. They are currently not safe from known abusers and are some of the most vulnerable members of our community.

Please support “Expanding Nicky’s Law,” Bill H4393. This bill will expand, strengthen, and update the current abuser registry and DPPC regulations.
