The Arc is grateful for the fast response from our community this week in regards to the Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) amendment for the Housing Bill debated in the House.

The bill will include accessory dwelling unit by right. The Arc’s amendment to the bill was to clarify specifics around special needs trusts as owner/occupiers and allow for two bedrooms.

The amendment was not accepted, but our sponsor, Representative Christine Barber, believes that the existing language in the bill does not limit owner/occupier and does not restrict from having two bedrooms.

We will continue to advocate to make sure that these needs are clear within regulations. Thank you for taking action and stay tuned for next steps!
