Maura Sullivan, The Arc’s Deputy Executive Director, and Betsy Johnson, Autism Educator, presented a training on Autism and Neurodiversity in the Community, Home, and Workplace to the staff of the State Ethics Commission. Maura and Betsy spoke about the current landscape of home and community-based services and the challenges families and individuals are facing. They also provided best practices on engaging and interacting with people with ASD/IDD and their family members.
The Arc focuses much of our trainings on advocacy for legal change, but opportunities to train citizens of the commonwealth to understand more about IDD and ASD will begin to make social change. Acceptance and accommodations in our communities and workplaces will go a long way to create rich and inclusive lives for all.
