The Arc of Massachusetts held an excellent legislative briefing at the Massachusetts State House on Wednesday, February 21. Thanks to parent advocate Mona Roy for sharing her son’s story so powerfully.

We are grateful to our disability champion, Representative Sean Garballey, and the crowd of legislators and staff who came to listen and learn!

The briefing focused on the consequences of the workforce crisis for people with disabilities and the imperative for the legislature to support the Governor’s historic investment in Chapter 257 (the rate setting vehicle to increase the salaries for DSPs to a median floor of $20 per hour).

Our fact sheets and budget ask are now available.

In this video, keynote speaker Mona Roy, the mother of an adult son with autism named Alok, shares the heartbreaking story of Alok’s struggles and regression due to the workforce shortage crisis.
