A bill that The Arc endorsed is moving through the state legislature. Along with our partners at Massachusetts Advocates for Children, we need your help to get it across the finish line!
A supplemental budget that recently passed the House of Representatives included language to ensure that education rights for students with disabilities and immigrant children are maintained in our state, as they are being stripped away at the federal level. The Senate version did not include this language. Legislators are deliberating now about whether to include this provision in the final version.
This timely language is based on H650 (filed by Rep. Frank Moran and Rep. Alice Peisch) and S436 (filed by Sen. Payano). Especially now, Massachusetts must stand up and protect public education for this population as the federal government repeals long-standing and critical civil rights protections.
Please use this action alert to write to your Senator today and ask them to ensure that the Senate adopts outside sections 11A through 11F of H4151 in the final supplemental budget. Specifically, ask that your Senator contacts the Chair of Senate Ways and Means to urge the Committee to include this measure in the final supplemental budget. Remember, it always helps to add a personal story to the action alert!
Thank you for taking action!
