Transportation
Introduction
Individuals with disabilities have several options for transportation to and from medical appointments, social activities, or employment. Most are dependent on their level of navigation ability.
Most Commonly Used Options
- MBTA: Fixed route services with a regular route and schedule (bus or subway)
- People with disabilities may qualify for discounted fares. Learn more here.
- Paratransit in Greater Boston/other regions of the state: Origin-to-destination service. Rides are shared and there may be other stops on the way. Riders need to book in advance (e.g. day before)
- The Ride (Paratransit for the MBTA)
- The Ride Flex: Ride Pilot that allows existing customers to sign up for subsidizing trips on Lyft, Uber, and Curb
- Ride Match: A one-stop searchable directory of public, private, and accessible transportation options
- Long Distance Medical Shuttle to Boston: Offered in select communities
- Regional Transport Options
