The Arc is proud to announce that Rep. Tom Stanley has nominated our CEO Maura Sullivan as a 2026 Commonwealth Heroine. This distinction, awarded by the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women, recognizes women who are leaders in industry, business, nonprofit, advocacy, and more, and their work truly makes a difference in local communities all across the state.

“Whether in her personal life or professional career, Maura has done so much to make Waltham a better place,” Rep. Stanley stated. “Prior to her role as CEO, Maura was an extremely successful advocate for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and autism and their families. Her achievements include Nicky’s Law, Police Training in Autism, and statewide adoption and public funding of Operation House Call. Her leadership and advocacy have supported so many individuals and their caregivers in the Waltham community and beyond. Waltham is extremely fortunate to have Maura and The Arc call our great city home.”

“I am deeply grateful to Representative Tom Stanley for this very special nomination and for his leadership and tireless support of our community in Waltham and across the state,” Maura stated. “It is a huge honor to be included in this year’s MCSW’s class and to stand with such remarkable women!”
