The Arc of Massachusetts CEO Maura Sullivan discussed the end of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitians and its effect on the human services workforce with WCVB’s Brittany Johnson on July 27, 2026.
“I think the worry for families is really about their loved ones being left unattended, even for a short time,” Sullivan said. “These are individuals who are often non-verbal or have a lot of communication barriers. It would be really traumatic for them to have their trusted caregiver suddenly taken away.”
The Arc is urging the legislature to pass additional protections for these caregivers, expressing concern that they could now be at risk of being arrested at work.
