The MA House of Representatives concluded most of its budget work for the next fiscal year (FY’2017). The budget process now moves to the Senate. The Arc worked with ADDP and other partners to support legislators working on behalf of those with intellectual and developmental disabilities including autism. Key budget amendments were submitted to increase funds in the areas of employment, family supports, turning 22 initiatives and residential services.
In April, UMMS welcomed Operation House Call! Operation House Call (OHC) teaches young doctors about the unique health care needs of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including autism. The UMMS residents learn through classroom instruction, home visits, and through an on-line forum.
We’d like to send our best wishes to Roger Monty as he retires from The Arc of Greater Plymouth. He’s led the organization to new heights. We warmly welcome their new executive director, Mary Valachovic. Mary has years of experience in both our field and leadership through her work at Berkshire County Arc, BFAIR, KDC and Vinfen.
