BREAKING: We are thrilled to share that earlier today, the State Senate adopted Senator Michael Moore’s amendment to expand the protections of Nicky’s Law to MassHealth Day Habilitation programs!

A longtime advocacy priority, this supports the safety of our community regardless of where they receive services. The bill voted on today already included an expansion for the abuse registry to child care providers, which is also a crucial development.

This is a monumental win, but the work is not over.

The underlying bill that this amendment was attached to will now go back to the House. We will be working very closely with our allies in the House to ensure that this language remains in the final version of the bill and becomes law.

We want to thank Senator Moore, Chair Michael Rodrigues, Senate President Karen Spilka, Senator John Keenan, and Senator Robyn Kennedy for their remarkable leadership on this issue. We also want to thank the nearly 600 people who reached out to their Senators about this just in the last few days—and the thousands of people who have been advocating for this change over many years!
