Over 700 of you took action on Universal Changing Tables when it was before the House — and now, we have another opportunity to make progress on this common-sense policy in the Senate. Take action again today and contact your State Senator!
Please take action today and urge your State Senator to support Amendment #484 to “An act relative to economic development in the Commonwealth.”
The Arc of Massachusetts is prioritizing this amendment, based on our Universal Changing Tables legislation (H256/S102), to ensure that newly constructed, reconstructed, or remodeled public buildings include universal changing stations. Many children, adults, and older adults with disabilities cannot fully participate in community life because public restrooms often lack appropriate changing facilities. Families and caregivers are too often forced to change their loved ones on restroom floors, in vehicles, or avoid community outings altogether because there is nowhere safe or dignified to provide necessary care.
This amendment addresses these barriers while advancing the goals of the Economic Development bill by making Massachusetts more accessible and welcoming for residents and visitors with disabilities. Universal changing tables promote dignity, health, safety, and inclusion while supporting greater participation in local businesses, tourism, recreation, and community life.
Please reach out to your State Senator and urge them to support this amendment.
