Attention Nicky’s Law/Dana’s Law advocates! We need your help again!

As you know, the Abuser Registry is up and running. We ask that you help us pass H218/S117, “An Act updating terminology and investigative processes related to the protection of persons with disabilities.”

We must ensure that the registry is as effective as possible, with no loopholes. The language of current DPPC regulations is not in complete alignment with Nicky’s Law/Dana’s Law and this must happen.

This bill needs no appropriations, yet will strengthen the DPPC’s mission and align with Nicky’s Law/Dana’s Law.

Please take a few minutes to use our action alert to send a letter to your Senator and Representative to ask them to support Representative Garballey and Senator Keenan’s bill.

Also included in this alert is the effort to expand the Abuser Registry to cover MassHealth Day Programs. This is a gap in the original bill that we must fill. Please ask your Representative and Senator to pass S137, “An Act to allow MassHealth Day Habilitation Providers to use abuse registry,” filed by Senator Moore.

These are The Arc’s top priority bills. We appreciate your continued commitment to protecting those with disabilities from abuse and neglect.
