On Tuesday, May 5, Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS) Secretary Dr. Kiame Mahaniah announced the appointment of Allison Bovell-Ammon as Acting Undersecretary for Human Services, succeeding the previous EOHHS Undersecretary for Human Services Mary McGeown.

Allison has been with EOHHS for over three years, previously serving as Assistant Undersecretary for Children and Family Services and Director of Policy for Children and Family Services. Prior to joining EOHHS, Allison spent a decade at Children’s HealthWatch, based at Boston Medical Center, working at the intersection of research, policy, and advocacy to improve the health and well-being of families with young children.

On behalf of The Arc of Massachusetts, we want to express our profound gratitude to Undersecretary Mary McGeown for her decades of dedicated service. Her impactful leadership across both the state and non-profit sectors has left an indelible mark on the lives of families throughout the Commonwealth,” stated The Arc of Massachusetts CEO Maura Sullivan. “While we will miss Mary’s expertise and deep commitment, we enthusiastically welcome Allison Bovell-Ammon into her new role as Acting Undersecretary. Allison’s proven track record at EOHHS and her background in advocacy and family health make her a natural champion for our shared goals of equity and independence. We are grateful for her preliminary work alongside the Governor – developing the profound autism initiative. We look forward to continuing our vital work together under her thoughtful leadership.”
