The Arc is grateful to the 550 health equity advocates who reached out to their Senators to support the Senate Amendment for Operation House Call filed by Senator Jason Lewis. Unfortunately, the amendment was not successful, but will be voted on again during the Conference Committee. We thank Senator Lewis for his support and our 16 cosponsors and look forward to their support as the budget finalizes.

Another amendment that The Arc is supporting is the PCA/IAE Amendment. This amendment would require MassHealth to hold a public hearing to address the change over to an independent single assessment agency for evaluations for LTSS services. This amendment is a multi advocacy agency-supported initiative, and we are grateful to Senator Kennedy for sponsoring it.

The Arc and Advocates for Autism of Massachusetts thank Senator John Keenan for his support of a Workforce Training and Development Amendment. This amendment successfully passed the Senate and will now need support in the Conference Committee. The amendment will help fund training initiatives in ABA for providers serving individuals with complex behaviors.

Stay tuned for more information as the Senate debate concludes.
