TRANSCRIPT OF VIDEO:

Hi everyone. Maura here at The Arc of Massachusetts.

I wanted to take a moment to reach out as we are all still processing the election results and still analyzing the federal races.

In the wake of these results, just like many of you, I’m feeling deep concern for our community as we enter this period of uncertainty, anxiety and change. I am taking great comfort in the fact that in Massachusetts, we work collaboratively with our governor, her administration, and our lawmakers.

Our state and local advocacy in this moment has become even more essential. Our legislature is going to get activated around protecting rights, and The Arc is too.

Our role now and in the near future is to ensure that Massachusetts responds to concerning federal policies and that disability rights are at the forefront.

The Arc will continue to ensure that we have a seat at the table and that the needs of those with disabilities and those with marginalized identities are prioritized. Our policy work is strong and The Arc will continue to be a force.

This is bigger than just about our community. All marginalized communities need support right now, and all people need to feel valued and safe. This is where we need to unite.

I’m grateful for our partner advocacy organizations and all of you, our advocates. Together we can safeguard our rights.

And lastly, I want to remind you that The Arc is here for all. We are here to provide clarity and compassion and a very important message: that we must take care of ourselves and each other.

Remember that our greatest strength has always been relying on the resilience of our community.

So please don’t give up. Let’s dig in deep for all people whose rights are under threat.

Thank you so much for listening.
