Maura Sullivan, The Arc’s Senior Director of Government Affairs and Health Policy, recently participated in a statewide summit and panel discussion with two exceptional leaders of our legislature, State Senator Cindy Friedman and Representative John Lawn. The summit was entitled “Leaders Learning and Leaning In: The Massachusetts Initiative to Improve Healthcare Transitions for Individuals with Neurodevelopmental Disabilities.”

The Arc is grateful for their leadership and expertise on current and future policy to support healthcare transitions for people with neurodevelopmental disabilities (NDD). The panel also featured leaders from the Department of Developmental Services and MassHealth.

The Arc has been involved with this initiative out of Boston Children’s Hospital, which focuses on healthcare transition for people with neurodevelopmental disabilities, since 2018. Thursday’s Summit was another step forward toward health equity and inclusive healthcare spaces. Kudos to the entire faculty involved in transition work across the state!
