Amid ongoing changes in government support and eligibility requirements, access to reliable resources has never been more important. In response to that need, The Arc of Massachusetts is launching the Resource Roundup, a new series focused on sharing information and trusted resources on a variety of topics vital to our community.

For instance, many families are scrambling to understand changes to health insurance and the process for determining Medicaid eligibility called redetermination. This week’s Resource Roundup features three good sources for assistance with health insurance and MassHealth. In Massachusetts, Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) are covered by MassHealth.

  1. MassHealth Ombudsman Program: an independent advocate service that offers information, tracks member complaints and concerns, and offers information around specific MassHealth programs including long-term care, individual member coverage, and community services.
  2. Healthcare for All: a nonprofit organization advocating for fair healthcare access and coverage for all Massachusetts residents. HCFA advocates with legislators on a variety of healthcare issues including prescription drugs and equal access. They also have a helpline to answer questions and provide individual support in completing insurance applications.
  3. The Insurance Resource Center for Autism and Behavioral Health: part of the UMass Chan Medical School dedicated to helping families access the complex world of insurance coverage. Whether it’s information on coverage and eligibility, affording co-pays, or finding a provider who takes your insurance, the Insurance Resource Center can help.
