In a can’t miss moment during floor debates in Congress this week, Congressman Jake Auchincloss used his time to spotlight a poem written by The Arc’s Betsy Johnson entitled “The Mathematics of Mercy.”

Betsy is a parent instructor and autism educator in The Arc’s Operation House Call program. Betsy attended the Disability Policy Seminar in Washington, D.C. last month with The Arc and shared her poem – and now, Congressman Auchincloss has shared her poem with the world.

The poem is a moving, honest account of the human cost of potential Medicaid cuts, exploring the profound impact Medicaid-funded supports have in the lives of individuals with disabilities, their families, and their care providers.

This unforgettable moment is going viral on The Arc’s social media account – and we encourage you to watch and share with your communities.
